NANGARPARKAR: PS-55 Nagarparkar independent candidate Nazia Sohrab Khoso on Sunday vowed to transform education, health and communication sectors and work for the development of the region.
Talking to Daily Times, Nazia Khoso shared that she decided to enter politics after consistently facing disappointments at the hands of mainstream political parties who have administered the area for years. She added that the Thari women are stronger than ever and will even fight a “lion” if they have to.
Launching her election campaign, she claimed that “nothing can be expected of politicians who imprison women.”
This is the first time in the history of the Nangarparkar PS-55 that a woman is going to contest the elections. Nazia Sohrab Khoso has been working with an NGO for the past 20 years in district Tharparkar.
While campaigning, Khoso said that she spent all her life serving the people and now she wants to become the voice of the under-privileged by contesting the elections. “I want to serve the public on a broader level,” she added.
The candidate said that she will continue her mission of public service regardless of if she triumphs in elections or not. She said that she will take steps to solve issues relating to health, education and communication in the region, while she also vowed to acquaint the youth of Nagarparkar with modern technologies and tools to help them develop.
While quoting the survey based report published by Thar Education Alliance (TEA) pertaining to the status of education in PS-55 constituency, the candidate said that there is a total of 701 schools in Nangarparkar.
Out of which, 578 lack proper water facilities, 484 schools are without electricity. Whereas, 420 of the 701 schools are without any boundary walls and more than 357 schools are deprived of sanitary facilities.
While stressing on the need to improve and empower girls’ education in Nangarparkar, she said that girls should be encouraged to seek education.
