ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice (CJ) Saqib Nisar on Tuesday took sou moto notice on minor girl’s rape and murder in Faisalabad’s Jaranwala area.
CJP summoned a report from Punjab’s Inspector General (IG) of Police to be submitted with 48 hours.
As per the minor’s father, the girl went missing on April 1. Her body was found later from the fields in the evening bearing torture marks.
On Tuesday, a shutter-down strike was observed in Jaranwala, protesting against the murder cases of the minor and that of the Government College University Faisalabad’s student. The demonstrators raised slogans against the local government and demanded immediate arrest of the alleged culprits.
Markets and businesses remained closed in the interior city and protestors on road caused a massive traffic jam on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road.
Earlier on Sunday, body of a 7-year-old raped and murdered was recovered from the fields of Jaranwala city.
